How to choose a pure water system

DI Tank vs RODI System: What’s the Difference?

While the initial cost of a DI tank is significantly lower than an RODI system, DI resin is expensive. For many professionals, an RODI cart pays for itself quickly by dramatically reducing resin usage over time.

An RODI system is a 3-phase filtration process:

  • Pre-Filter (Carbon) – Removes chlorine and protects the RO membrane
  • RO Membrane – Removes approximately 98% of impurities
  • DI Resin Filter – Polishes water to 0 TDS

Because the RO membrane removes most contaminants before the DI stage, the amount of costly DI resin needed is greatly reduced — saving money and increasing productivity.

However, not all RODI systems are created equal.

What to Consider When Choosing an RODI System

Before selecting a system, ask yourself:

  • What is the average TDS of the water in my area?
  • How high will I be cleaning with a water fed pole?
  • How often will I be using pure water?
  • How many operators will be cleaning at the same time?
